Farmers Market.

Today is Saturday, and Saturday is Farmers Market day. And this Saturday was a warm and sunny Farmers Market Day.
I lovelovelove the Farmers Market. The Market I go to here in Baltimore is extra awesome. There is a fabulous local Dairy, who make the absolute best sour cream ever, and a purveyor of meat that is local, antibiotic-free, and grass fed. There is a mushroom stand that has all my favorite mushrooms, including black truffle on occasion. I got some Boston lettuce still attached to its root, a huge bag of spinach, a good amount of kale, 2 beautiful eggplant, 2 dozen fresh eggs, and my housemate got some beautiful loaves of bread, of which I will not partake.

One of my (many) goals in life has been to eat locally, and organically. Its harder than it looks, but with Atkins, I'm doing a pretty significant job of it. This way of eating is all about eating whole foods. The only pre-packaged thing I bought today was a can of diced tomatoes, for a meal later this week. Everything else is in its natural state, just waiting to be put together for a delicious meal.

Also, I weighed myself this week. I've lost 9 lbs. wOOt!

Yesterday, I went to a meeting for work, which we had at Golden Corral, so we could have a working lunch. Let me just say that for a buffet, they had woefully little food that is Atkins-friendly. So I ate a lot of veggies, and some ham. One of my co-workers asked about my plate, and I mentioned that I was on Atkins, so I have to be careful what I eat. She then proceeded to harangue me about "being on a diet" and I shouldn't "Be on a diet" I should, instead, change the way I eat. When I told her that is what I'm doing, she refused to believe this, and told me to stop dieting, that dieting won't work.

O.o

I hate people, sometimes.

Anyway, I'm feeling good. And that counts for something, right?

My First Week

Last Monday, I started Atkins. It is now Sunday. One more week of Induction, then I move on to OWL. My mistake in the past has been to stay on Induction for a month, or longer, thinking I could lose more weight quickly. But instead it caused me to give up. A woman can not live on 15 net carbs for too long. It makes her go crazy, it does.

I only got a slight headache this week, which surprised me. I've drank close to 2 liters, or more, of water a day. Eventually, I'd like to move up to 3 liters a day, but I must give my bladder a chance to recuperate.

Thursday, the housemates and I went to Outback Steakhouse. I really love those little brown loaves of bread, and it made me sad that I couldn't eat any. So instead I got the Melbourne, which is their porterhouse. It was so delicious, and even though its a huge piece of flesh, I didn't feel bloated and gross afterward, like I would have, if I had eaten the bread. Plus, I had leftovers.

The Melbourne notwithstanding, I am eating fairly healthily. So all those naysayers who scream "OMG ATKINS! EAT VEGETABLES! LOW CARB WILL KILL YOU!!!!!111!!!!!!1!" can just kiss my rotund but beautiful arse. I am eating my vegetables.

I can totally do another week of exactly this. Also, I should probably weigh myself, to see the weight loss. I know I've lost weight, I can feel it. I just don't know how much. Anyway, it doesn't matter, really. I'm going to be healthier. And that is all that matters.
